power supply had bulging caps, replaced and reassembled, backlights stayed lit longer but did kick off, disassembled the screen itself and found what i think are bad ccfl's.
working on this for a friends brother, the tv was given to him so ge doesnt mind spending a lil cash. looking for a good place to pick up the correct ccfl's.
