LCD vs LED Can't Post

LCD vs LED
I am planning to buy a 32 inch High Def TV for my bedroom. I am not sure whether to buy a LCD or LED.
I currently have a 3 year old 32 inch Samsung HDTV LCD downstairs in my living room, which I bought new, and it is very good. A salesman at a store recently told me LED is newer and better than LCD. PLease explain the benefits and faults of each. I will be using it to watch TV shows, or movies that are on TV. I will record some TV shows and movies on a DVR. This is a LCD forum, so am not sure if the posters here are biased toward LCD. But anyway: which type is better for me : LCD OR LED?

Due to LED TV's using LED lights rather then the normal LCD florescent backlight, the TV's are also able to be much thinner with better heat dissipation.

Is it true it's not worth the extra money getting an LED TV, since I am only using it for the bedroom and it's only 32 inches?

Both, LCD and LED, are good options in TV. However, if I had to choose from this two, then I would have selected LED, as its the updated version of LCD TV.

what LED????....The only pure L.E.D. that has been made in the entire world was made by SONY.. in 2006 > THE SONY QUALIA KDX-46Q005 ($15,000)...nobody else!..Samsung, LG L.E.D. based claim monitors/tv's are actually edge-lit with L.E.D. backlight wrapped around the corner of the actual screen...

I bought a LED TV not necesarily because of picture quality but because LED does not use CCFL or florescent bulbs whch contain mercury. I would rather not have mercury inside my house.

I will always choose LED over LCD for my TV and I guess you should also go for an LED.
