TV electrical protection

I recently purchased a 46'' Samsung HD TV and am looking at some electrical protection for it. I use a UPS for my computer stuff but have heard a voltage regulator is better for the TV. I'm not really looking to spend the money on a high end model that does both, so is a voltage regulator really the better choice for the TV? I have seen where you can get a decent one of those for around $50.
