I bought a Nexus PL422, 42" Plasma HDTV at Fred Meyer in Oregon last week. It was a discontinued model on sale for $599!! They were using it as a display so I managed to get an additional 10% off as well, bringing it down to $540....unbelievable deal! I had been leaning more towards an LCD for my first big screen purchase but just could not pass up this deal. It has a 30 day no questions store return plus the standard 1 year manufacturer warranty. To be honest I had not heard of the brand, so I jumped on the Internet to do a quick check. Although I found their website easy enough, I found very little in regards to reviews on this model, or brand even. I decided to take the chance and when I got it home and set it up I was definitely not dissapointed. I was coming off of watching a 27" JVC I'Art, which had a pretty incredible picture for standard def. The picture quality in standard def for the new Nexus was awesome and last night when I hooked up the new Hi-Def DVR from Comcast cable I was blown away. I have seen hi-def in the store of course and was always impressed but when I had it in my own living room it was pretty dang amazing. I kept switching back and forth between a local news station that broadcasts in both formats and the difference was just staggering. I think I have been spoiled for life. I also hooked up the audio out on the TV thru S/Pdif to my home theatre and got 5.1 surround. It's also amazing. I flipped thru the HD channels to find a good movie to watch for my first HD movie and found the last Die Hard movie...between the video and audio I was thrilled...better than being in a movie theatre. Now if I can just make sure my 2 year old doesn't throw anything thru the screen! LOL Anyway, just want to say that this off brand, Nexus, is just great so far. Will have to see how long it lasts and what the support is like when I do finally get a problem.
