Toshiba pixel noise Can't Post
I have a Toshiba 42" plasma and lately it has started acting up with what I believe you call pixel noise. One second the picture is fine and the next second you see bursts of color in the pixels throughout the screen - of course mostly noticeable on a black background object. Is this repairable like the Zenith problem discussed below? Thanks in advance for any help.

You have an overheating scaling chip. I'm not giving you hope to replace it cause this can't be done by hands or manual procedures. You may contact toshiba under your existing warranty if new than I suggest you to replace it. `

I've had a couple of newer Toshiba's come in with "sparkles". Occasionally you can adjust it out but the best fix is to replace the X & Y sustain boards along with the Logic board.

That, by the way, is the same fix as for the LG's. Those parts actually come as a kit.

Is that a repair that can be done at my house or will I have to take the unit in? Approx cost?

A tech should be able to repair that in the home. As for price.

to bend over and few hundred dollars don't even come close. But you can gamble a win win or loose situation. no hard feelings aside.

The cost of the 3 boards will cost you several hundred. Since I have no idea of the range of what service companies charge in your area I really can't even come close to giving you a ballpark figure. I'm guestimating here:

X & Y sustain boards and logic board - $300-500

+

Cost of service call and in-home labor.
