Old LXI Can't Post

Hi,
I need help with an old rear projection tv. The set is about 20 years old its a LXI model 626-54461850. The problem is the Red crt turns on and off and I loose my red color. Usually when first turning on the set it will go off and on, then after a while the red crt will finally stay on.
I was thinking maybe it could be the crt is old and needs replacment. Is this correct, I'm wonder if this is a common thing with old sets or if there is some test I can do. I have study some industrial electronics but don't know anything about projection.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Nick

I'm afraid any parts you need for a set that old are no longer available. Take the thing to the dumpster and buy a new TV.

the set you have is probably a sylvania or magnavox. you might want to check and see if you have an itermittent connection going to the red crt filament. i was a mag tech years ago, still have some modules in my garage most are for ptv 300 series.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the advice. Rocketman gets the prize, thanks to Rocketman I messed with the crt board again and got the red back. So far it looks like its staying on.
Thanks again.

i was reading this post and noticed your comment about extra modules...do you have a main board for a ptv 340 and if so how much for me to take it off your hands?
info from the board... "MAIN BOARD 27R1 OR 31R1"
i can upload a pic of the board if that helps. thanks in advance

I worked on many of those Mag's and the problem I found was the video output transistor that's on the heatsink on the crt board developed bad solder connections. I have seed it so bad you could damn near pull the transistor right out of the board just resolder to correct. If the filiment connection didn't fly for you try that. Good luck.

I know this is a long shot, But do you possibly have one of the MAIN BOARD 27R1 OR 31R1 for the Sylvania RSK410 AK03? I just aquired one, and the main board blew, I resoldered the loose video output transistor that's on the heatsink on the crt board , then another set of risitors blew, I had tested this unit before I took it home, it wasn't untill I pluged it in (at home) that the mainboard blew. Now I'm kinda stuck with a big wooden box that doesn't do anything but take up room.
So if there is any possibilities that you may have one or know where to find one (main board) in good shape it would be appreciated, because I'm relying to an old post of yours for this, I cannot find anything else on this model online, including the manufacture's site
