Philips 55PP9363H Can't Post

Hello guys! I'm new here and was hoping I could get a little help.
I recently got this TV off of Craigslist for $20. I had repaired a sililar one last year, which needed the convergance chips and resistors, so I figured this one needed the same thing. The guys said the picture was screwed up. I paid him and brought it home.
I plugged it in and hit the power button. POwer button lit up, but no picture, no fuzz, no sound. Switching the inputs also did nothing. No picture what so ever. I then hooked my DVD player up to it to see if I could at least get sound. Nothing. So that's where it stands right now. No picture, no sound.
I took the back cover off. I tested all of the fuses that I could find. All were good. I am stumped. Any words of advice?

A.J.

From out on the web:
Dead set. When you pull the plug 1516 that connects the SSM to the LSB the set fires up. Usually when you do this, you determine that the conv IC's are bad. And you are usually correct. This plug carries the +22, -22, +35 and-35 from the LSB to the SSM. When you have shorted STK392-120's, removing this plug, unloads the shorted IC's, and the set starts. This quick test will save you from needlessly changing the conv IC's. This fooled me today into changing the conv IC's. Remove the plug 1516 from both the LSB and SSM. It plugs in from both boards. Snip the wires to pins 10 and 11 and plug it back in. (There is enough slack to resolder them later). These pins supply the + and - to the audio IC. When you snip the wires and the set starts up, you have a bad audio IC. IC7700-TDA7490-932214750667. If it still does not fire up, you more than likely have conv IC's bad.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to try that when I get home. Does anyone happen to have a link or a PDF copy of the service manual for this set?

I've been working with Ron, who has been great! He's had me check a few simple things. Now I notice that I do not have a glow from the right bulb, when looking in from the back. The other two bulbs glow so it's possibly a bad bulb that's causing my problems???

teode;.....

As I said in my PM to you...I'm posting part of it here for all to see:==>

Quote
earlier I posted about the creaking noise I could hear when the board was unplugged from the blue bulb. Well, I watched closely when I powered on the set, with the board removed, and I could see arcing inside the blue bulb. So what does that mean?

BAD news...Unsure...
1st;....I could not find this anywhere in the thread..==>>"""earlier I posted about the creaking noise I could hear when the board was unplugged from the blue bulb."""

Now for the bad news....Your "blue" CRT is shorted out beyond repair....
Chances are the CRT has lost it's vacuum & the glass is cracked or broken somewhere...
CRT's for big screen TV's are NOT easily subbed...
New ones are costly & usually the TV is not worth the cost...
IF you do decide to change the CRT , do NOT sub it....
You WILL have problems....
SORRY to be the bearer of bad news....Unsure....

Best Regards....

What do you mean when you say "Sub"? Also, do you have the part number for this CRT? Is it worth trying to replace if I can get a CRT?

"Sub"stitute the tube with a similar type....

Quote

NO....If you are going to go that far , there's a label on the CRT that has the info you need....

Quote

I have NO idea !!!....Unsure....
Things to consider:
You bought this for $20.00...
The seller may have not been totally truthful with you...
There may be other problems with the set....
The seller said;""the picture was screwed up""
The condition of the set , ie; the cabinet ,the chassis , etc...
The age of the set...
The cost of a "new" tube....
Your ability to do this successfully , escapes my memory....
Plus other factors that don't readily come to mind....
It's ENTIRELY YOUR call.....Sly....

I remember you saying you had the manual for this TV, that's why I asked about the part number for the CRT. BUt that's cool. I'll take the CRT out and try and find one.
