SONY SCREEN REPLACEMENT Can't Post

I have a Sony KPR-53EX35 that is 15 years old. It's never given me any trouble but the screen has deteriated to a point that the picture sucks. What are my options? I've inquired about buying a new screen and have gotten nowhere. Will other, newer, screens work? I'd love a new tv but just can't swing one now. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Jim

Lets look at this from your tv's point of view, it's 15 years old and the screen may not be the problem after all, now a burned crt will look as if the screens at fault. Remove the screen and with a flsh light stare down the crts if you see a brown burned square youre screwed. If not mabe a local shop in your are will sell used screens we charge 100 each if they have to be cut down, and there are two

Thanks Mike, I've had the screen off. There are two actually panels taped together. The inner one that appears to have a frosted appearance is the problem. It seems to be faded and almost non-existant in spots. When the tv is on you can see all the bad spots easily. The outer is a lenticular screen and seems fine. It's just that inner one that is bad.

Mike, as an afterthought, do I have to replace the screen with the same type screen or would a newer glossy smooth screen work ok? I've never liked the lenticular type anyways. Thanks, Jim
