Samsung HCN4226W Can't Post

Hello all,

Yesterday, my unit HCN4226W Samsung 42" turned off, and it won't come on, the red light around the on/off button turns on but nothing happens no image, no sound......So I have 3 Options:... 1) To Trash it and buy a new one...2) To Bring it to a local Repair shop and pay between $500 and $700 to fix it....

Option 3) Like everyone else reading this forum...decided to see if I could fix it myself.. To my surprise it looks as if it is a common problem with these units... there are several posts with similar problems.

Apparently the Fix is easy and not expensive...ofcourse for those like me with the TV repairman experience of a Cat. But all it takes is a screwdriver and some common sense.

Replace the CG/AMP Board part #AA95-02002A There is a reference of a substitute board #BP94-00383A (AKA: Convergence Board)

(#AA95-02002A www.samsungparts.com $94.39)(#BP94-00383A www.vancebaldwin.com $70.10) plus shipping.

Also since I don't want to start putting my TV appart without knowing what I am pocking.. I uploaded the Service Manual so you guys can download it if you need it. Here it is... ( http://hcn4226w.groupfiles.com/....list.run?folderID=0 ) This file sharing is a free service so I don't know how long they will allow those documents upthere.

(I have to at least have an Idea of what this board looks like. http://pictures.partsearch.com/...b4caf174e014ea15.jpg

You will need to do some Convergence adjustments for colors and lines, hopefully this will be a lot easier by running the Perfect Focus option within the Unit. If you have replaced the board and still you can't get into the main menu to run the perfect focus then Try from your Remote Control (Mute,1,8,3) and then call the Samsung repair Hotline 973-601-6124 your adjustments just got a little more complicated.

Well, I have learned a lot from this forum so I figure that the least I could do was to Compile all of the Info and share it.

Wish me luck, I have ordered my board from Samsungparts.com although a little more expensive but it is the original for the HCN4226W if you have any other variations of this unit like the HCN4226WS or HCN4226WX... you might want to check the parts list for that model there are different part numbers for those according to Samsung.com

Re: [Mal-] Samsung HCN4226W [In reply to] Can't Post

Same thing just happened to my hcn4226wx. Can you upload the manual again or email it to me at ljc300@charter.net ? Also, since your post, it appears as though that convergence board has undergone at least one more revision. Sort makes you wonder if they "have it right" yet, doesnt it ? I took the back panel off and if it's the board I think (has "blue" "green" "red" along the edge and has the two big black ICs on top at a right angle, and hangs from two prongs...) it is really easy to change, just have to keep track of which wires plug in where..ALso, the vancebaldwin.com has the part #bp95-00142E and samsungparts.com it's bp95-00415b. I think they're the same part...

hope you didn't spend the nearly $100 for nothing. There are a lot of things that can cause a dead set symptom.

I have the same problem. Did changing out the convergence board fix your problem?

I had the same problem. The light around the power button just blinked 9 or 10 times and then nothing. My local shop wanted 100 bucks just to diagnose the problem. I didn't think it was work it. The tv sat around for a few months till i decided to try and fix it myself. After reading these forums I found a convergence board on ebay for 75 bucks (shipping included). I thought it was worth a shot, so I bought it. The installation was only 20 minutes and BAM! My tv was working again! wow. I bet the shop would have charged me well over 300 bucks to fix it. I'm glad I didn't go that route.

Re: [Spyda] Samsung HCN4226W [In reply to] Can't Post

Does anybody on this thread know if this would be the same bad board if there is no power, no sound, no blinking light on the power botton?
I suspect a power surge hit due to Lightning near by? I checked the fuse on the main power supply board and it is ok.
Any other hints?

Thanks!
