maybe this is easier than I thought, posting the pics that is. the reason for so many pics is I wont you to get a fill for the delima, or maybe lack there of.

you will need to unsolder the ic and the support pillars on the heatsink.then the whole lot will lift out of the pcb.if you change the ic's make sure you fit lots of new heat compound or they will fail again, and dont use cheapo Chinese ic's either

Re: [bowlin] toshiba 50h72 [In reply to] Can't Post

the metal heatsink has pillars that go through the pcb and are soldered into the circuit. If you have not done soldering before you will find this job difficult. you need to unsolder the two rows of connections on each ic and the heatsink pillars from underneath.you need a good soldering iron that is not too hot for the ic but will adjust hot enough to unsolder the heatsink pins and a good solder mop to soak up the old solder.

Chris,
I hope this dont offend ya, but when you say soldered into circuit, does this mean my best bet is to take the whole board out of the tv and do it outside of the tv, the only thing holding the board in now. I think is a white peice that is connecting both boards, kinda hard to get to but will do my best.

usually screws around the edge holding pcb to plastic frame.the edge connectors flip up to disconnect, unplug any flying leads
