CRT Can't Post

I am new to this CRT stuff and need to know how to discharge a crt in an orion tv. It does not have a metal chassis to ground to, it is all plastic, can I use an earth ground like a water pipe as the ground? Can I wrap a wire around a screw driver, ground the wire to the water pipe and then touch the metal leads in the picture tube? Any other ideas.

Re: [oakdust] CRT [In reply to] Can't Post

Well here is what I did and it seemed to work. I used part of a 12 ga 3 wire extension coard and cut to about 10 feet. Strped back the three wires on each end and twisted them together. I wraped one end on the blade a of a screw driver and taped the heckout of it. The other end I clamped to the earth ground of my home breaker box. Touched the screw driver to the plug in the tube and discharged the CRT. My volt meter shows 0 volts. Neccesity is the mother of invention I guess. Sly
