well i've checked the tuning on the flyback and its perfect so, do you think it may be the CRT?

check the earthing pin on the flyback tx for dry joints. if ok try tapping the neck of the crt gently with a wooden spoon it will induce the fault if the crt is sparking internally. otherwise you could monitor the screen volts to see if it jumps up and down when the fault appears

Do the "flyback lines" you're talking about appear on the whole screen or just, for example, near the top of the screen? If just near top, could be a lytic in the vertical output area (although set usually won't "shutdown and restart" in that case).

I believe Chris is correct it probably is the earth pin of the flyback transformer dry. Dont know this set but NEC had a model that did that but it was internal in the transformer.

Re: [techchris] Ferguson D59F [In reply to] Can't Post

yes i checked flyback for dry joints everything was ok, so looks like the CRT then?, its not really a problem any more, i've retired this set as of today and i am using a phillips 21PT442A in its place which although has a smaller screen, perforemes much better and quicker and it has a better picture, the ferguson was real slow at performing commands anyway.
