Flyback Transformer Can't Post

I have two questions on FBT. I removed one from a Emerson EWF2006 to test it, On one pin I had to remove a gray caulking like stuff to get to the solder for the pin. I am thinking it is an insulator, but what is it called so I can replace it. Second; I tested it by hooking one clip of an circuit tester to the clip for suction cup wire going to the CRT and the other I tested one pin at a time and did not get a complete circuit on any of them. No I am waiting for a ring tester to test the primary. How do I find the primary pins, are they next to each other?
I know which pin comes form the HOT to the FBT, how do I find B+ ?
Thanks in advance for your help

RTV or silicone sealant. Allow to cure before applying power.

HOT pin is one end of the primary. From it to usually two other pins you will read continuity. One pin goes to a resistor/diode (200V source), the other will be B-Plus (usually goes through a choke or high wattage resistor to the power supply). May or may not be adjacent to each other.
