HELP... Sharp 66DS05H Can't Post

hi,
my beloved sharp 66ds05h broke last night and im not exactly sure whats wrong with it, it turns one fine but when starting up instead of the usual burst of static that i would normaly here there was just a low squeak and after a few minutes a thin coloured line appears on the screen and the sound comes through but its muffeled also the flyback transformer is screatchin like its in pain, i think its either the tube is gone or the flyback isnt opearting at the correct voltage but is that because of a faulty capacitor or is the flyback nackered? please help as i really love this tv.any help appreciated.

Is the "thin coloured line appears on the screen" running from top to bottom or left to right and is it in the center of the screen.Cool

i thought i should point out that the flyback dosent discharge the tube like it normally does when its shutdown?...i read somewhere else that it could be a faulty horizontal output transistor.

the tv will be dead if the HOT is short circuit so forget that.if the flyback tx was faulty you would not get a vertical line only on screen.

so its either a dry joint, or a faulty capacitor, or could it be the tube?

"dry joints on the s-correction cap or flyback tuning cap was common on this tv." is what I said. nothing is definite because you have the tv not me. Have you looked yet to see?

i checked all over the board...no dry joints whatsoever, a tv repair agent backed by sharp came out and collected the tv for repair on tuesday, but i would still like to know what is wrong with it so i can have an idea of what i should be expected to pay to get it fixed.... so if its not dry joints...what else could it be?
