Hitachi screen broken

Our son accidentally dropped the remote against the screen of our brand new Hitachi 57F59 rear projection tv. Only the very outer layer of netting on the screen seems to be damaged or torn. The tv works fine, but it is annoying to be looking at the torn netting now. Can this be replaced and can we do it ourselves or should we have an authorized repair person do it? Will the warranty be affected if we do it ourselves? How hard will it be to find this part? Any idea on the cost of this part and the service in Lincoln, Nebraska?
