Introduction Can't Post

Hello All,

Just found this forum and it looks like a good one. I have been interested in TV repair for some time now and have considered it as an alternative career. Been self employed in various businesses for 30 plus years and due to the down turn in the economy I have decided to investigate this industry. Been reading some posts and looks like some knowledgeable people here. I love to trouble shoot and have demonstrated my technical prowess in a multiple applications and think it would be fun to learn something new. If anyone has a suggestion on where to find good information on LCD and Plasma TV repair please let me know.

Their is always someone in the forums with a negative attitude. I was hoping for some positive input.

BTW I noticed that your a veteran here. I have a question for you... What r you doing here if there is no incentive to learn from others?

Your wasting YOUR time telling someone who is interested in learning something new that their wasting their time.

Unless you have a knowledge of electronics and the proper test equipment, you can expect to go nowhere in this business. See if your local junior college has electronics courses and then be prepared to spend plenty bucks for the required equipment. Then you will need shop space and advertising to establish a business. I would recommend that you check with one of your local TV repair shops to see if their level of business warrants all of this effort and expense. Be subtle in you conversation and observation because they may not appreciate more competition and may kick you out on your behind.

YOU can call my attitude negative if you want too but in the town I live in there used to be at least 10 tv repair shop now there are none because there is no business parts are not available for many brands and before people will spend much on a repair they will buy a new one if I had painted it in a positive light I would be be lying to you This is coming from someone who was in the business for 35 years

YES. You also have to consider tech info which is difficult (if not impossible) to get on off brand sets which seem to have the highest failure rates. I belong to a techs only website and the level of business was the subject of discussion recently and the general concensus seemed to be that business was hurting. That is why I suggested that you check out your local economy. With the advent of the new higher priced sets, people may start being willing to pay for repairs but I woudn't bet on it. I am now retired so I have no axe to grind nor personal knowledge of todays conditions but I would surely do my homework before I jumped into this expecting to get rich or even make a living at it. How about getting a job in an established business to learn the ropes before you decide to strike out on your own?
