JVC, black static?

Ive got a 32'' JVC TV thats 5-10 years old and for the past couple of days ive been getting a black static coming from the right side of the screen. It seems to appear after a bit of using it and gradually extends over the screen the longer it is on. If i wack it on the side (i know, great handy man skills) it goes away for a bit. I know its not the cable because it does it when im playing video games also. Any idea what it could be?
