from memory I think you need to change the flyback tuning capacitor which goes open circuit on these tv's.its usually mounted next to the horizontal out transistor. I dont have the circuit to hand to give you the reference number, sorry, but its a cheap component.

Chris, would it be possible to get the reference number for the capacitor if you have a schematic? I am not able to get my hands on a schematic
Thanks

I think its C521 either 2nF or 3.5nF 1.5Kv depending on model

Thanks for that chris,
i took out the capacitor in C521 and tested it and it is good. Any other ideas? Another possiblity has been suggested that it could be a possible EEPROM corruption
"press "I" and "Audio Mute" simultaneously on handset. This will put it into test mode"
Not able to get into test mode?
Thanks agian for any help

original post said vertical faint line .do you mean vertical or horizontal.I only ask as lots of people previously dont seem to know the difference.if its horizontal, the fault may just be bad solder joints on the scan ic which need soldering

Yes there was faint vertical lines, after putting the capacitor back in and soldering a couple of dry joints on the SCART lead connection there is now sound but no picture, there are faint horizontal lines and i get faint fussy picture in the bottom of the screen. i will check all solder joints on the scan IC
cheers
