I have a JVC model AV36150 36" TV. It stopped working the other day (according to my wife and son it just went off and they thought they smelt a burning odor). Anyway, I removed the back of the TV and there are 5 circuit boards, as follows: 1. Main PCB 2. PIP PCB (on main PCB) 3. AV PCB (on main PCB) 4. PCB on end of CRT tube 5. PCB behing front panel (button switches on it). I suppose I could replace these boards and try to get it to work, but I could sure use some advice from one of you. Let me know your thoughts.
Odds are the problem is on the "Main" PC board. Start by checking the fuses and giving board a good visual examination, concentrating on discolored or burnt looking areas.
Thanks for such a quick reply! I just got a tip from another site to replace capacitor C926. Apparently this is a problem in JVC TV's. You ever heard of this? Anyway, thanks for the quick and helpful response!
Jvc : Av36850 / Chassis A61 : Dead, Led Blinks While Power Button Held In., Replace C926, 1000uf 16v, in power supply.
Not same model number, also found listings for other JVC models using different value caps.
But "What burnt?"
I actaully cannot quickly spot any burnt items on the top of the main board. I will look underneath to see if I see any noticable discoloration. Should I be looking for capacitors buldged or burnt? Is that what you think may be the culprit? Again, thanks for the response!
That capacitor, ratings vary, according to research I've done, is a good possibility for "Dead Set" across a wide range of JVC's model numbers over the years, but no mention I can find of "burning odor". If you find C926, replace it and see what happens.
