Magnavox 26MD255V/17 Can't Post
The tv changes channels on its own and the TV/DVD/Analog…dialog box pops up on its own and automatically goes through all the options repeatedly It's as though someone is holding down the menu button on the remote when of course it is not. Can anyone please advise which part I need to get to fix this. Is it some sort of short in the circuit board that processes the incoming infrared signal?

did you try puttig the remote in another room or leaving the batteries out

yeah that was my first thought....thinking the remote was the culprit i took out the batteries then even carried it far far away but nothing....i think the issue is with the tv...i'm sure the remote on the tv is connected to some circuit board which maybe the trouble....

disconnect the front switch unit on the tv by unplugging the cable to the front board.if the fault stops my guess is one of the switches is stuck down or gone conductive and needs replacing.

Where is the front board? Do i need to open the tv to access this?

it may not have a front board contact switches may be made onto the main board

Well i guess i'll just have to open up the unit and have a look at the circuit board that receives the infrared signal input....chances are its this whihc has gone bad....
