Magnavox L01.1UAC-7636 Can't Post

Model# MS3652S427 chassis# L01.1UAC-7636
My Mother called me to to take her to the curb because she bought a new one. I loaded it in the truck instead thinkin i can fix it.(i dont plan to take it to a shop and real handy with a soldering iron. I have been fixing Plastation 2s for years. Yes i know a plastation is not the same as a tv. And i have replaced a few flybacks and resistors in my short life on this planet. This tv is totaly dead. nothing when pluged in and nothing when pressing the power button. The fuse is not blown. and getting voltage in the powersupply and high voltage but not sure what is the right voltage at all locations on the board cause i dont have any scamatics. I only have a digital multimeter. I have checked resistors in the power supply and they seem ok, they are not above the specs of the resistor. But i didt desolder to check them. every resistor i have ever replaced have been found defective on the board and i do know that other resistors and devices can bring the resistance down but never make them go up so i figured checking them in for the moment is ok while narrowing the problem down. I need some help on this one please. Im not sure where to start or if i just cant find the problem with a multimeter.

Thanx in advance and andy advice would be greatly appreciated

I look for c460 and c461 and didnt find ether location with that number. Did find 6460 and 6461. Have no luck finding c2455 i did see with no C 2456,2457,2424 but no 2455. 6460 and 6461 are both diodes i check them and they both have 2 readings and both reading get higher and higher. I check all diodes on board and they all do the same thing. So it looks like all diodes are leaky, I plan on replacing them after undoing a lead on all of them. But should i do that. If all diodes are dead is this set even worth fixing. what else could be wrong with the board with the results that i have found thus far.

If you are not a technician, I think you will not repair this set!

No im not a tech. I if i dont fix it thats ok. It was a free tv and i was just trying to give it my all to fix. If i cant fix it will go to the curb. If you dont wont to help me out to try and narrow the problem down thats fine. this is all just a learning experince for me and i have been thinking of takeing some electronic coarses. But i wanted to put my head into some electronics first to see if i would enjoy it. I have done a search for the schematics for this set and have not found one yet.

Describe to us how you checked these capacitors and how you know that they are good to go!

I desolderd one lead of capacitor and check them with and analog meter. When check with meter on ohm resistance the meter jumped to about half way, i cant tell what resistance. then the dial moved back to infinity. I check with leads one way then opposite, same results. I dont have a capasitor checker but this way of checking a capacitor has workd for me in the past. I have used this way to replace capacitors in my guitar amp power supply

If you don't have an esr meter, you can not check FULLY these capacitors as they may check good with an an analog meter using that old fashioned method as that only tells you if they are shorted or not! They will not not tell you the value or if they have leakage. The best thing to do ,if you don.t have these meters is to take an old pros advice and just replace!

No, just replace those 3 and see what happens. I have repaired that chassis and that solved the problem, although there is no guarantee to fix your set, TVs with the same chassis tend to set a pattern for repairs.
