Magnavox MS3652	Can't Post

I bought this back in 04, in 07 we had a power surge and tv was repaired. Over the last few minutes, and nothing else has happened since repair, you turn the tv on, and it comes on with sound just fine, then after 2 seconds, the picture and sound go away, but the power indicator light remains lit. You turn it off for a few minutes, its does the same thing. Any ideas?

After messing around with it a little, if I hit the status button on the remote, the picture will display for 2 seconds, then pop off, if I hit the status again, it will go to video, then pop off. It will do that, but its not the usual snap sound that you would normally hear, instead it pops. I find it odd that the power indicator light will remain lit. I wondered also if the sleep mode could be set to 2 seconds, or if theres a standby that would also do that. Anyways, I just am curious.
