If you did repair work, you would know why! They have the worst reliability record of any of the major brands and one thing that really disturbed me was almost immediately after they introduced the CTC203 series, the repair shops were being inundated with these almost brand new sets. This coupled with the fact that many RCA parts are proprietery and have to be replaced with the more expensive "RCA" parts. They are made cheap to sell cheap but in the long run you will probably wind up paying more to keep it running.

Got 3 CTC203's that need new flybacks, a CTC177 that needs a new tuner. The quality of the newer RCA's is slightly better than a Emerson/Symphonic/Funai but still rather bad. but since you are an RCA/GE/Proscan fan qtip1970 please feel free to make me an offer.

Bottom line is if TV prices keep dropping there will not be TV repair (other than big screen / plasma) in a few years. Basically anything under a 32 (CRT) is not worth taking in for repair as a consumer today.

Just gave my girlfriend a new Samsung, awesome, nice set, The more I look at it, the more I realize i made the right choice.

Only time will tell. They are not all bad, they just have more than their share of failures. I think that statics show about a 10 percent failure rate and unfortunately these are serious failures. I would rather spend my money on something with better odds.
