Mitsubishi CS-2611R Can't Post

Mitsubishi CS-2611R TV (27" bought in 1990)
In the middle of watching TV for 3 hrs. suddenly there was no sound. Picture still good. Check all connections. Is it possible the damage was caused by putting the volume too high for so long? I hooked & unhooked all connections , a faint sound came back when turned up to the highest volume. I don't understand electronics. Should I try anything else? Is it worth the cost of repair? What would the cost be?

I appreciate your advice
Thank you,
Sillo

If you have a DVD/VCR with audio/video outputs, hook it up to the audio input jacks and see if you have sound there. If not, your problem in in IC3A1, IC3A2, Q3A0 or Q3A1. If you have sound, the problem is in IC350. If it works, just also hook up the video and use the VCR as your tuner. Otherwise, given the age and size of the set, it probably will be more cost effective to just replace it.
