No Colour Gundig

Hi I hav a grundig tv that has no colour in the picture either from the scart or arieal. I'm guessing that the colour is missing because the painter chip is at fault or the colour control is right down as the channel number is displayed in green. I dont have the remote for this TV and I cant seem to get into any menu using my universal ru 252 remote.
Any sugestions?
