Old tv terminoligy Can't Post

Does any one know what AGC stands for and what it is?

Does any one know what the 'Flywheel sync is'?

AGC is Automatic gain control. where a proportional part of the amplified signal from the tuner etc is fed back to the tuner to maintain a constant gain. Flywheel sync was method used where the synchronisation of the TV which is locked by transmitted pulses could withstand noise and missing pulses. The oscillator worked like a flywheel maintaining a nearly constant speed and only requiring a percentage of the transmitted pulses to regulate its speed.
