Panasonic TV CTP-2789SF Can't Post

I have a Panasonic CTP-2789SF console, bought in 1993 which just started to develop a shrinking picture. It starts slowly but if left on will shrink down to a horizontal line. Given the age of the TV, I was wondering if this problem was worth being repaired (by calling in a repair man)?

It is probably something as simple as a bad electrolytic capacitor in the vertical output circuit. C451 thru C455, C457, C458 and C465 are involved and if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can change them yourself for less that $10. If not, check with your local repair shop for an estimate and make the decision on repair or replace based upon the cost of each. Panasonics are usually a very reliable set and if it is good shape otherwise, it is probably worth getting repaired. Incidentally, continuing to operate the set in this condition will blow the vertical IC and add to your expenses.
