Philips 32PFL5332D/37 Can't Post

Long shot but here goes. I have had this HD LCD for about a year. (used from my uncle who bought new in 07 or 08 he upgraded to a 3d) Anyway... at any given time the tv will turn on by itself or turn off by itself and display the "latest firmware update screen" You cannot navigate to anything else. I have tried to reinstall the firmware from the philips website and when I insert the usb stick with the autorun.upg the tv will not take it. (it will not recognize the file. I have made sure it is in the root dirctory, etc.)If you unplug the tv and let it sit for a while it work again but who knows for how long before it shows the same firmware update screen. Philips is no help at all. I hope I didn't break any rules for posting here. Here is a pic of the screen I get. It doesn't make for a happening Saturday night Any ideas?

Are you sure there is nothing else in the root directory of the USB drive. It will not function unless it is a blank drive.

I have tried everything. The file is extracted out of the zip. Just the autorun.upg on the usb stick. I have tried multiple usb drives. Super nice tv that won't take a software upgrade? wow It tries to read the usb but comes up empty. I wonder if there is a way to totally reset the software. So frustrating. Thank you for your reply I am still trying to get this resolved.

mopargocar;.....

I may be way out in left field here , but , here goes anyway.....
There could be a problem with the way the file is put on the Flash Drive...
That could explain why the TV does not recognise it....
I would suggest you go here;=>...
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?act=Login
Sign up , it's FREE....
Then go down the main page to "Other Software" , start a new thread & post your problem....
Here;=>....
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showforum=124
They have some excellent techs there that may be able to figure out your problem...
Certainly worth a try , ya think ???

(BTW:....
I know from past experience that the "autorun" feature has caused problems on computers...
IF it's the only thing on the drive , that may be the problem...
Autorun is not a "file" , it is a function...
That could be a possibility that's giving you trouble)....
An "off the top of my head" suggestion would be to erase the drive completely....
Extract the files & load ONLY the extracted files on the Flash Drive...
Leave "autorun" off the drive...
See how that works...
If not try whatthetech....

GOOD LUCK.....Sly....

After leaving it unplugged overnight I plugged it in today. It worked until I changed the channel. After the channel change I got the screen in the above post. I did buy a new sansa usb drive. All my previous ones were a few years old and I needed another one anyway. When you insert the new usb with the needed file the tv just trys and trys to read it. It tells you it's scanning for files and never finds anything. It willscan for hours and hours. This is different from before as it would tell me nothing was there before. I have also tried breaking the file down without the autorun.upg nothing works. This one has me stumped. Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I will keep trying. I hate to give up on it. Unsure
