Phillips TV Problems

My neighbor has a Phillips LCD TV. I would say that it is about 50" not sure what model exactly. It has some weird problems going on with it and I am trying to narrow down the problem. First of all he said he is getting colored lines across the screen (I assume its like artifacting I have not witnessed this). Second thing that it is doing is it seems like a color is dropping out and all the colors are like a greenish blue. Third thing it is doing is ghosting or channel overlap. There was a talk show on, and on the right half of the screen you could see a ghost image of a basketball game on. Final thing that is going on is the picture freezes for about 5 secs then the TV turns off and on. Something makes a "pop", but I am not sure if it is the TV or his speakers.
All of the problems "fix" themselves if you simply turn the TV off and on again. Do you guys think the problem is with the TV itself, a bad cable, a bad feed, or what? I should note that he had both comcast and now dish network and he is having the same issues. I do not know if a bad HDMI cable could cause these problems or not?
