Picture Tube Arcing Can't Post

I have a Sony 34XBR970. After about 2-3 hours of operation and usually on a humid day the picture tube flashes to an out of focus green bar. The picture comes back immediately and is beautiful. The flashing is accompanied by arcing in the neck of the picture tube. All this repeats itself every 25-30 minutes. Sometimes exactly on the hour and the half hour ???. I disconnected the Comcast box and watched a DVD, same thing. Does anyone have any ideas. It's still under warranty, but I would like to avoid the Sony merry-go-round if I could. Frown

Get on the merry-go-round. That is what a warranty is for and any other actions on your part may wind up voiding the warranty.

Take the info Chris & Mel gave you and run with it, Sony picture tubes are veeeery expensive, hurry up and call your local authorized Sony dealer and get the paperwork started before your warranty runs out.
