Picture "overexposure" issue Can't Post

Hi All, hope you can help me.

I have a 4 year old 42LG5000 which possibly after a power surge (I was away on holiday) the picture looks really overexposed particularly in light areas.

I have a background in electronics and have opened the TV but I have no idea how to eliminate parts. Clearly its not a power issue and the display issue appears on the OSD as well as HDMI inputs so it can't be an input problem it must be whatever processes the image. However I have no idea what part that is, can someone help me?

I can provide pics.

Yes, pictures would be required.

Good luck,

Thanks Jim,

I took an educated guess that since this issue also appeared on the inscreen menu it was likely an issue in the values being passed to the screen rather than the image processing. So I replaced the LVDS board after finding one for £40 on ebay.

All is fine now!

I do seem to have misplaced several screws however...
