Polaroid TLX-04240B Can't Post
Trying to fix or extend the life of this unit.The TV comes on, plays fine for about two minutes then the picture goes black yet the audio remains.
On a tip for a quick fix,I opened the center of the back cover,then the metal cover covering the board inside.I then located what I will call a "dip switch", switched the bottom switch(labeled BURN) to on and the TV has played for hours.
Now,my question. What is this switch and what does switching it do exactly?Is there problems that this change will bring on?More importently could it be dangerous?Thanks.

Burn switch is used in the Factory to force the set "On." Set may or may not respond to remote commands in on position.

Should not be dangerous to use as a power switch, IF you're happy with the set's operation in this position.

Obviously, you probably won't be able to turn on/off from the couch.Smile

Thanks for the reply!I don't have the remote yet(a satellite customer gave up on the TV and gave it to me)so I don't know about the remote functions.
There are three other switches,without opening the TV back up,I can't remember the labels other than the first is 40.Would you know what those do?And again, thanks for the reply.

Since the TV has worked without fail after the switch change,I have not opened it back up.How long should I expect this to work?I know it is only temporary,however,it has played great ever since the change.Thanks for any advice!

BTW,the remote works just fine.Did I get lucky or what?
