RCA 27" Dead Can't Post

Hi, I have a RCA 27" TV Model No. F27442 Chassis No. CTC203AD5 built Nov. 2001. The set does nothing. I found a thread with another RCA with similar or same chassis that said to check the HOT Q14401 transistor. I unsoldered it out with the heatsink attached and it was shorted e-b-c. I checked the L14401 to the base of Q14401 as the person in the thread said this was one of the main causes of the transistor shorting out but the solder connections seemed ok but I resoldered them any way. Would the flyback 1536119A be the cause of the transistor shorting out? or something else? If it is why with the set only 4 years old would it be bad and would a replacement be any better? Where could I get parts for this set?

Thanks for any information, tjl29

Thank you for confirming this shadetree. Does anyone know where I can get these 2 parts for a reasonable amount?

Depends on your location. In the UK, there is; Maplins, rswww.com, rapidelectronics. I dont know if they ship items to other countries. I think there are a few companies in America, like RadioShack. But just type the part number into google and it will come up with quite a few websites.

The other option besides me would be www.wehaveparts.com

After reading your post, I agree with shadetree, prob a flyback/hot failure.

I replaced the HOT and Flyback and turned it on and nothing happened. I checked all the solder connections and other connections I put back and they seem to be ok. Is the shutdown circuit still sensing a problem? Where do I go from here?
