RCA 32inch F32650 Can't Post

We have had this TV for 16 months today. This morning, when turning it on, the screen flickered, and there was a popping/crackling noise coming from inside the TV. We thought it was the channel, but when we changed it, it did it again and again. After a few minutes, it stopped. After a while, we turned the TV off to see if it would do it again, but it didn't, maybe because the TV is still warm. Any ideas on what it is? Our warranty was for one year, except on the pic tube. Could we be that fortunate that it is the tube? Please let me know, and if you have any idea of cost--that would help too!

After reading this forum, it seems that all the faith I have always had in RCA is gone. We have several other RCA's aging from 22 years old to 15 years old-- that neither of which have given us a problem. If this new one goes out, it won't be replaced with an RCA-that's for sure!

Clarify "it stopped". Was it the noise that stopped or the TV? If it was the TV, you are probably a victim of the infamous RCA flyback failure. It probably zapped the horizontal output transistor as well.

No-- the TV still works-- but the flickering and that crackling/popping noise stopped after a few minutes.

I have see several instances where moisture has accumulated in the dust that built up on the top of the CRT and the high voltage was arcing to the CRT strap until the moisture evaporated causing the condition that you describe. In any case, the crackling and popping that you describe sounds like a high voltage arc and you should be able to spot the source when it is happening. If the noise is coming thru the speakers, look for a solder joint that is not making good contact.
