RCA PROJECTION PROBLEM Can't Post

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A RCA PROJECTION CTC195 WITH A MAJOR CONVERGENCE PROBLEM! THE PIC COMES IN PERFECT AT FIRST THEN AFTER A MINUTE OR SO IT GOES WAY OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND PULLS IN FROM THE CENTER OF THE TOP AND BOTTOM. ANY HELP ON FIXING THIS WOULD BE GREAT! THANX,

MC

If you do a search for "convergence STK's" you will find many descriptions of different problems, but they all come back to two things. Either the solder joints of the STK ic's are cracked, or the STK ic itself has pooped. If you feel up to the challenge, the parts can be ordered on line very reasonably. It's still no guarantee that it will fix your problem. For that you should call a local repair tech for a in-home estimate to rule out anything else. Also, even though most people here will tell you that this is definitely the problem, there could be other minor issues to accompany the STK's. i.e. capacitors, resistors, micro fuses, or filters. It's not always a straight forward fix, but if you're capable of using a soldering iron, it's worth the money to try.

Heat will cause things to expand, that usually means there is a bad connection. Once the heat expands the item, there is more pressure on the contact surface causing a better connection.

Or vice vera, the heat will expand the board away from the contact, or warp it. The STK's are a known issue directly related to your symptoms.
