Replacing TV Lamp? Can't Post

Ok you probally get a lot of posts like this but anyway...My friend I guess went to get his tv repaired but didn't want to pay the labor. The television is an Rca Entertainment Series
f27442. He was told he needed a new lamp. Now from the looks of what I have found on google this is a pretty easy job. The question is, is it worth it?. I think this Tv retailed for $300 in 2004, and the lamps I found for it were over $100. I could probally find a used one of these Televisions for $70-100. I really have no clue though about whether this is easy enough for a novice to do and whether or not it is worth the money, or if I can find a lamp cheaper. Thanks for your time.

kins;.....

1st off;=>..
"Lamps" are used in Projection TVs ONLY....
Not the 27 inch table top TV set that your model number specifies....

If you are refering to the CRT (Picture Tube) , then this would be the best way for you to go;=>
""I could probally find a used one of these Televisions for $70-100.""

Changeing a CRT is no big deal for an "experienced" Tech...
A novice such as yourself may run into OR cause an unexpected problem OR maybe even hurt or kill himself accidentally...<< NOT A JOKE !!!

GOOD LUCK....

That is what I thought, I know that the older style CRT type televisions have enough electricity in them to kill you, and that is even with the unit unplugged. I don't have the tv in my possesion it is a friend of mines at Chruch. I was going to call him and let him know NOT TO OPEN it up because I don't want any accidents to happen. I did call and he told me it was a newer style LCD television, but from the looks of it online it looks like an older CRT style. I have not seen the television in person, but if you can confirm that is the CRT style that would be great.

Edit: I just found the specs online. I guess if it looks like a CRT in the picture it must one!. I think maybe my friend was confused as to the question asked. Like I said I never even saw the tv till I saw a picture of it online. Now I must go and call him and let him know not to mess with it anymore!. Hopefully nothing will happen!

The CRT can hold a charge for years....Not neccessarily that model , tho...

IF your friend gave you the correct model # , find out what he's/she's smoking
& tell him/her to QUIT !!!! Because that's a CRT type & NOT a LCD TV....

BTW:....
I got a bunch of questions about who & where he/she got it in his/her head
that it's a LCD TV & needs a "lamp"...
Just one for now;...What is wrong with it ???...Dead set ??? ...No pix ???...
No sound ???....Just curious....

I'm not ever sure how they came to that conclusion. I've conviced him though and he will be taking it to the dump ASAP. Thanks for all your help.
