SONY kv-27fs17 Can't Post
hi, someone just gave me a sony kv-27fs17 today because it doesnt work anymore. when you push the power button it beeps a couple times and the standby light on the front blinks. the person i got it from took it to the tv repair shop and they told him it needs a new motherboard? i didnt know tvs had those lol but w/e. it looks like the tv guy marked on the board where the problem was. i unplugged the plug that was marked and the tv turned on but there was no picture. i did some looking around and i found one place that said its the tuner card. so basically, my question is, is there a way to make this thing work by taking out or somehow disabling the tuner card and use the rca inputs? thanks for any help <br>

The blinking light is a diagnostic tool where the number of blinks helps pinpoint the problem. Post back the number of blinks and we can go from there. Yes there is a "mother board", but some techs will go for changing the system rather than doing repairs at the component level because it is easier for them and more expensive to you.

when i press the power button the light blinks slow twice. then after the beeping sound stops it blinks 4 times fast and then waits a couple seconds then blinks 4 times fast again and keeps doing that.

4 blinks =vert faults.dont know what chassis this but could be vert ic or capacitors.is the chassis no on the back

Ser. is 4002733, chassis is BA-5, and if it helps it was made in may of 2001.

I have one in the shop right now with the same symptom. Usually, this is caused by a failure of the vertical output IC or the power supply supplying B+/B- to the IC. However in my case, eliminating these possibilities did not fix the problem and my next assesment is failure of the jungle IC. The first two are relatively simple fixes but the latter can run into some time and money. Good luck!

It also could be your flyback.

im completely clueless to tv terms, so if theres a way i can fix this spell it out in english for me. im pretty good with computer and can solder half descent so if theres i way i can add/remove stuff that can be bought for cheap, i can do that. thanks for all your help

Unless you have the proper test equipment, it is s waste of time to just start changing components. In my experience, unless it is a simple straight forward fix, many do-it-yourselfers wind up creating more problems than already exist,especially when it comes to changing out complex ICs. Also, asking for simple repair instructions is impossible until you identify the cause of the malfunction and even the instructions might not be so simple. You might want to see if there is a SAMS Photofact (www.samswebsite.com) for this model and it might give you some troubleshooting and repair tips with schematics for clarity.

Also check/replace C628 100V 25UF,and IC702 on CRT Board.
