STK Replacement Advice Can't Post

Hi

I recently got a Panasonic 52 Inch projection TV.

Throughout the TV there are miniature curves in the red color.

I am suspecting the STK's are going.

My questions is:

Does this sound like symptoms of bad STK's?

The set uses STK392-110.

Should I use the same kind of STK's or a different kind?

If I do replace the STK's will I need service alignment or should I expect a properly converged image?

Thanks

I would suggest the STK392-150 as they are cooler running ICs. You may have to do a minor convergence adjustment when finished. You can also get repalcement ICs at the following link and they provide free step by step instructions with pictures.

Hi

Thanks for your response.

At LEAST there is one person that writes back in this DEAD forum.

I want to go ahead and replace the STK's but before I do I wanted to post a couple of pictures and make sure that the amps are the most likely cause.

Please note that the entire image is projected nicely except for the curves in the red.

model # would be very helpful.
the pictures make it hard to tell what the symptom is. are the red lines all over the place behind the OSD or on top.
it looks like it could be a i/p convertor problem. are you able to go to the convergence grid and adjust the red horizontally and vertically,
stk394-160 is the new ic some manufacturers are recommending using, i have had very good luck with them, they can run 10-20 degrees cooler.
good luck

Hello

Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry the pictures are not too clear.

I will try to take better one.

The lines are throughout the TV and they are curves almost like waves on the screen.

They are all over the screen.

The convergence in the menu is not very helpful because the red crossbar is broken up.

The model of the TV is: PANASONIC PT-51G41V

I found this picture for another TV, but it almost looks like this. Instead there are much more lines like these on the screen.

Thanks again for your help

the grid is it, deff. a convergence problem you should replace the ic's like 30,000 other posts say. you have lost the hard fought convergence battle.

I tried STK394-160 in my Panasonic. The chips would not turn on. I beleive these are Hitachi-specifc.
I'd use STK391-110. Don't buy from Electronix...

Hi

Well today I bought two brand new Sanyo original STK's.

They are STK392-150 as I hear they are completely interchangeable and better than the STK392-110.

I should get them in maybe 3 days.

I will keep you posted on how everything turns out.

Thanks

Did that do the trick? I had the same problem and replaced the convergence I/C but I cant get the grid to line up.

Can anyone tell me is my next step to replace the resistors? What values do I need to get?

Thanks.
