Samsung 40" LE40R74BD Can't Post

Hi guys this is my first post here.

I need a little help in regards to my above HD tv. for a short time now around 2 weeks my tv will not start up and keeps getting clicking noises up until yesterday the tv would come on automaticly after around 3 hours the picture the sound and every other way it works fine i could even turn it off and turn it straight back on ... but when its left overnight it like trying to get my girlfriend out of bed it doesnt happen.

Today i took the back off the tv and gave it a blow to get any dust off and so on ... also tried to establish where the clicking noise is coming from. Im not 100% but it seems to be coming from the main board around the copper coils ... aka ( thingermejigs ) to me.

Could any body help me on this please as the tv is only 15 months old.

Thank you very much

Jon

Thank you for your speedy replies guys is there any way i can get some kind of guide on the net regarding changing these ... as to be perfectly honest i havent a clue what a capacitor and what it does and how to change these .. so i think if i was to look at some sort of samsung mainboard manual of some kind then i could decide if i was able to do this myself.

Thank you very much most appreciated.

the power supply is on the board where the mains cable connects inside tv. the caps in question are usually blue or black with a stripe down one side. they are upright so you can see if the top end is bulging out. you need to be able to solder/unsolder to change them and this will involve taking the panel out of the tv or at least turning upside down to access the solder side of the board.

hi guys i have a recent update .. i think i have found the capacitors wich you have established the problem .. these capacitors are black with a silver line .. there are around 3-4 wich are actualy bulging the 1 actualy has some kind of black dried liquid coming from it ... im guessing the ones wich still have there silver cross on the top are fine.

Is there any way i could post a picture on here so i know i am looking at the correct capacitors ?

Thanks Jon

Hi guys this is just a thank you in regards to the above.I have recently fixed the tv myself and was chuffed that it worked with no problem at all.

Yes the problem was the capacitors and only took 40 minutes to do the 4 of them and only cost £3 all in all.

I was told silly prices by repairmen in the £100's.

Is there a link you can provide for donations to this forum?

Thanks again Jon

Re: [ragejon] Samsung 40" LE40R74BD [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all,
First time poster found this forum after doing some searching... seems a helful forum so here goes.... hope you can help.
I have the same issue with my TV and the same model. LE40R74B.
It started taking about 30 secs to start with a few ticks in between and now it is up to about 10 minutes to start....
I am not sure I'm clever enough to change capacitors ect if I'm able to find them at Maplin. I've never soldiered anything before etc so not sure If I could do more damage etc.
Does anybody know where I can get the whole Power supply unit as that sounds like it could be easier to replace? A link etc would be appreciated.

Thanks

Greg7
