Re: [Ron.M] Samsung Firmware [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry its an LCD TV built in 2007. Samsung website does not have firmware or will they give it to me- they say it has to be done by a service Engineer. I have the ROME flashing software and the Din type plug to RS232 flashing cable and have connected to TV via laptop but need the firmware pref ver 2000 or later which fixes the Justscan issues. Thanks Terry

fuglyface;...

What country are you in ????

Is that the correct model number ???

The Samsung sets that I'm familiar with have a USB port that you use a flash drive to update with...
Does your TV have a USB port ???

I'm not familiar with ""ROME flashing software or Din type plug to RS232 , etc""....

Good luck....Sly....

Re: [Ron.M] Samsung Firmware [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi - Thanks for response. I am in the UK and the TV does not have a USB port. It has a Din type plug that plugs into service port on back of TV cable type can be as seen here in photos on first post
http://www.avforums.com/...uctions-schemes.html
It is the exact same cable used for programming my MX700 universal remote if you are familar with this device. The ROME software is used to access the TV EPROM area and works fine with this cable, I have communicated via laptop and just need the firmware.
Do you have any old contacts still in the trade that might have access to Samsung firmware or maybe have a bit pull with Samsung, I have contaced Samsung myself but with TV outside of warranty they will not send Service Engineer and will not supply probaly thinking to risky for the average user to upgrade via laptop and service cable.
The full part no. of TV is le40m87bdx but tends to be referred to as le-m87 as the 40 is sceen size and firmware is the same for all sizes with option is service menu to change screen size.

fuglyface;.....

OK...
I'm guessing that the pix below is what you mean by "Din type plug".....

That was in the 2nd link , the 1st being the file for the "Rome" software installation...

I Googled "Firmware update for le40m87bdx" & got;=>....
http://www.google.com/...0...1c.1.YN8BQcaB9oE

There's 8,720 listings....Shocked...
If you want , you can go thru them & see IF perchance there's a listing that has the firmware available for download...

Tried here;=>..
http://www.samsung.com/...M87BDX/XEC-downloads

All they have there are Quick Guides & User Manuals..
No help at all.....Unsure...

I'll send you a name to PM for possible help....

GOOD LUCK....Sly...

Ron,
I don't feel old,,,,,,,,well some of the time. It only really shows itself when I try to work with surface mount components and have to pull out the magnifiers to see the components.

She came home today, so now we have two little ones in the house. It's crazy, but worth every moment. Well at least it is up until my grandson gets wound up. LOL

I would really like to know what 74f100 accomplished with the update...
Since it's been 4 days since "fuglyface" last posted , maybe 74f100 would be kind enough to fill us in...

Thanks....Sly...

Ron,

I have to have time in the office. I don't keep log in information to manufacturers at home. And being a road tech. I am not in the office even on many work days. I let fuglyface know it would be a few days until I was at the office to look up the information. It's all under control. Wink LOL

Re: [fuglyface] Samsung Firmware [In reply to] Can't Post

Looked this set up today. It listed on Samsung, but no information whatsoever. They didn't even list a manual for this.

You may want to call a few service centers in your area and see if they will download a version there. I've done this for a couple customers in the past with the stipulation that they take full responsibility. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but we are at the mercy of Samsung.
