Samsung Hp-p4261 Overheating? Can't Post

Hey Guys,

I pulled a Samsung Hp-p4261 out of the trash and it works great for about 45 minutes and then it starts getting green and blue dots all over the screen and outlines start appearing until finally the whole screen is covered, and then when the screen changes it will go away sometimes and then start again. I adjusted all the voltages thinking it would fix the problem but it didn't work. However When I put a fan in the back with it open it goes away. So i figured I could add some computer fans to the inside of the unit but I don't know how to wire one. Any suggestions?

Is the existing internal fan working?

Yes, there are 3 fans at the very top of the unit and they are working

Just tap into to wires that are supplying power to the fans. Go easy because you don't want to overload the circuit.

Thanks Mel, in your opinion does this sound like an overheating issue?

From your description, it sounds like something is breaking down from heat but i don't think adding fans is the real solution. Try using the A/V inputs jacks to see if the problem persists and post back.

Sounds like a problem with the logic board.

Cool, anything I should look for on the logic board that could be causing the problem?

Without the proper test equipment, it's hard to be specific. It could be anything from a bad solder joint to a bad IC. Most people just replace the board. Take a look at Google examples of TV pixilation to see if they resemble your symptoms and if so, it a pretty good bet that the logic board is bad. There is a pretty good Samsung training manual on elektrotanya.com that might give you some good info on the subject.
