Sony KP57WS510 Flash-focus

I have a Sony KP57WS510 Projection TV and have had a problem for sometime now but the warranty as run out and Sony has been no help. Basically, my tv randomly starting doing the flash-focus. I can be watching TV, a DVD, playing a game..basically using any input and the flash-focus might come up at any time. Some days it never happens. Then some days i can happen about 10-20 times. There is no real pattern. I have unhooked everything and unplugged the TV to reset it, but still have the same problem. I have a TIVO and can pause the TV when this happens but it gets annoying. I called a service center and they want $105 just to come out and give me an estimate but they wouldn't let me talk to a tech on the phone first to explain the issue. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this problem????
