Toshiba 27A44 Can't Post

Toshiba 27A44 tube TV
The picture tends to be "wavey" now.
And it does not show the full screen, 2" on each side are black, like watching 4:3 on a wide screen, how the sides are cut to show the picture properly.

This happened to 2 of my TV's, and my fridge stopped working too. Wondering if a power surge of some sort might of happened?

Any help is much appreciated, I would love to fix my TV! Thanks all!

This is a common problem with Toshiba sets.
Change transistor Q410 part number 2SC4159.

Thats just perfect, thank you.
Can I test the C4159 transistor with my digital multi-meter, Just to make sure that is the problem?
I cant figure out what prongs to test, because there are 3.

Re: [Repair man] Toshiba 27A44 [In reply to] Can't Post

I ordered the transistor you said might be bad. I am waiting to recieve it. I did a test on the old transistor on the Toshiba TV, and it seems to be working okay using my digital multi meter. Are you sure this is the case? I will let you know if it works when I recieve the part. Just wondering if you could think of any other problems that might make this occur?

Re: [HDSQUARE] Toshiba 27A44 [In reply to] Can't Post

The correct answer here is that more than one component may be responsible for fault/s- there are some who blithely espouse such & such being the cause- it may be- but just as likely it may not be- & the repair downloads listed are from a 3rd world country & may not be relevant- then again there is some good info for a raw beginner.
