One additional note on that TV.

There are 2 small jumpers in the corner of the convergence pcb. If you have the chassis in service position, they will be in the upper left corner of the pcb. They supply the drive voltage for the convergence amps. Check them very closely for cold solder, they will break out of circuit and then blow a 2 amp and a 5 amp pico fuse.

Just something to check while working on it.

checked and resoldered the 2 jumpers - they looked good . The problem with the tv right now is that the screen looks warped in the middle section . If I do the one touch focus - no errors at all .. Is there a way to reset the tv back to the factory settings ? Thanks for the help - appreciated .. <br>

Look around for a service manual for the TV. The procedure should be there to explain how to do it, and how to save the settings.

I downloaded the service manual , the only thing that I can find is :

In the manual - INITIALIZATION OF MEMORY DATA OF QA02
After replacing QA02, the following initialization is required.
1. Enter the service mode, then select any register item.
2. Press and hold the RECALL button on the Remote, then press the CHANNEL s button on the TV. The initialization of QA02
has been complated.
3. Check the picture carefully. If necessary, adjust any adjustment item above.
Perform “Programming Channel Memory” on the owner's manual.
CAUTION: Never attempt to initialize the data unless QA02 has been replaced.

Look for a geometry adjustment procedure. That will set green correctly, thus aligning blue and red.

I'll see if I can find anything on it tomorrow.

I looked through my service center literature. They dropped your model from the information.

That really sucks, I still work on them quite a bit.

74f100;....

I ran into that model before & had a problem trying to get the manual.....
I did find a manual for a "50H81" that should be of help with his problem...
I presume the convergence adjustments would be the same even tho there is a difference in the screen sizes...
You're welcome to give it a try....

http://servicetron.com/toshiba-2.html

Scroll down the page till you see 50H81 & click on it...
Your download will start....
It's a 16 MB file...

GOOD LUCK....Sly....

Thanks Ron!!!!

That is an awesome TV, and I would hate to have to give up on one. I also believe the H82 series are the same.

It will be either under a geometry setting or green convergence.

When I have a chance to really look over a manual, I'll let you know. The holidays are a very busy time for us, sorry.

Re: [Total] Toshiba 42H81 [In reply to] Can't Post

I wasn't able to come up with anything at work on this.

Look at the manual Ron provided. Page 13 has the full convergence alignment. Align Green.

Touch focus "should" bring blue and red to green.

If not, complete that full procedure for a 3 colors.

Pay VERY careful attention to the save procedures, it is very easy to erase the convergence eprom. So follow the procedure EXACTLY....And don't ask why I know this....LOL
