Toshiba 47WL968 Can't Post

Hello firstly to everyone.

I have a Toshiba 47WL986 tv which has died on me, the circumstances it died was there was an electrical fault/surge in my flat and the tv switched off and then repeated to try and restart itself, before I could unplug it.. and now it won't switch on or even sit in standby, no red light or lights at all.

Now since then I purchased a new psu for the tv and swapped it out but still nothing when I give her power. Whilst talking to a friend I mentioned that when I test the secondary outputs for 5v 12v and 24v I fail to read any voltage. Now I'm not sure if I'm missing something here but I think I should have voltages at the secondary outputs but my friend suggests that it is likely that I won't have voltage at the secondary outputs until the tv is told to output voltages/switched on. As in another component controls the secondary outputs and is not doing it's job.

I hope that what I've posted has made sense and that one of you ... Maybe more are able to assist me with this fault and repair.

Really Appreciate it ,

Brian

As there is a large poodle puddle between your set and my location, and since YOU report two model numbers (47WL968 & 47WL986), perhaps the PS and Main board PART numbers? (IF YOU can't decide which of the many numbers is the PART number, just give a list of any/all numbers and I'll sort it out. DO keep a separate list for each board.

Sorry for mixing up the tv model number. It is in fact 47WL968 just to clarify.

The Power Supply Board is ... PA-3201-02TS-LF Rev:A

The Main Board is ... PE1 099. V28A001440A1

Hope that is of use with my original call for help.

PS should have a 5 (or 3.3) volt stand-by voltage (all time ... present as long as set plugged into Mains). This voltage will no doubt go through to the Main board so that Main board can then be commanded to PSON the PS. So far no site has an enlarge good enough to read pin-outs of the connectors (ebays were close). My guess would be one of the two side by side connectors (with both connectors on the 'right' the lower of the two).

Can I upload a picture of the psu to here? Might help... I can't see an option for it.

Mains plug at bottom - LED/panel upper left - have NO idea as to four on sub board at top - then two on right, at least one of these should go to Main board. Main board (top at least is NOT labeled in a way that will help, don't know as to rear).

Ron's probably gonna get on your case about pix size.

Does pin 4 to pin 5 of PJ91 measure 5VDC as long as set is plugged in?

Yes I have 5v between pin 4-5.

Again just got in from work to be able to check. I'll post up a pic of the main board aswel so you can see that.

Won't make the images so big though this time...

Well, I'd like to say thanks first for the help i did receive.

Secondly I'd like to say that the tv is now working again..restored to its former entertaining giving glory!

I changed out the main board and problem resolved, an easyish fix at £40.

Smile
