Toshiba 50h12 Issues Can't Post

We recently got a 50 inch Toshiba 50h12 for free. The reason they were just giving it away is it takes about 20 minutes to "warm up" -When you first turn it on you get a black screen and very 'jumpy'.

After 20 minutes of warming up, the picture quality is ALMOST perfect. I say "Almost" because the top 1/4 of the screen remains very jumpy and somewhat distorted looking.

Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there a part we can replace to fix the issue?
well, we're hoping it is a part that we can replace. The person who had it said that they contacted a Repair service who quoted him $300 for parts and installation. . .

Is there anyone out there who has experience with these issues and knows how to resolve them? Any specific part we should be looking into purchasing?

The issue with it taking time to heat means tube or tubes have low emision so are at the end of life. The issue at the top suggests weak sync that may be a capacitor, an IF strip or whatever, might be easy, might not. If the guy who quoted the set can fix it all for $300 find out who he is and get him as that will be a great deal. But be warned, there's two of us now suggesting you are hauling junk, you have no bargain.

Tube?
This is a Rear Projection TV, no tubes.

The guy at the repair shop said it was something to do with the vertical hold and a board needing to be replaced.

I think we gave you the options, Most techs would not touch this as the cost involved and the chance of giving you a worthwhile product are slim. Chances are the tubes are obsolete, the convergence panel is on its last legs and then there is the vertical sync issues. What you get for the $300 is a new vertical panel to stop the riggles nothing else. People though argue with good advice and scream blue murder when the thing dies as expected a few days or weeks after its fixed. Take advise, you saved a guy a trip to the tip, dont compound your mistake.
