WHY WHY WHY	Can't Post

Why does this group allow people to post unrelated material here... what does TV programing information and shows, movies, sporting events, streaming this and that have to do with TV repair????? there are other forum groups that those things belong in....seems like spam to me.... just my opinion

This forum like tons of others allow anybody to join...
Currently there is NO censorship as to what IDIOTS post or say except me...
(I am NOT Admin)...
I report spam/scam posts & usually they are taken care of promptly by Admin...
Until there is some method of weeding out those a-holes , best to just ignore them , unless they become obscene or pests...

Ahhhh, I see.

Most forum software logs an IP for each post, so who ever creates those multiple user names will still have the same originating IP.

On a couple of my sites this information has really proven quite interesting. I have a local competitor that has paid for a linking service to build links back to his site. His paid "service" has failed only because I track his IP to a provider in Taiwan.

I'm certain that that is true here also...
I've recommended numerous spammers/scammers to Admin for banishment & he has done so...
BUT , they have figured a way around that...
I think they are using different email addresses when they create a new account...
Admin , so far , has done an EXCELLENT job getting rid of those accounts that I recommend...

guss67/Gus67 IS on VERY thin ice....

not sure why anyone needs to recommend removal... its clear that when the same person makes about 10 posts in a row that have nothing to do with this forum , the admin needs to remove them.... just saying.....

I TOTALLY agree !!!!

But......

This forum is run differently than other forums are...
If you look at ALL the sub catagories (forums) here you'll see that that IS an enormus task to do...
Admin for this part of the forum is apparently not a full time job for him...
He has responded to all of my requests & that's fine with me...
Granted , there's room for improvement...
But , I'm not going to be the one to tell them/him that...
In other forums that I used to help out at , they have a way of screening out the spammers/scammers before they post...
We need something like that here....
The spammers/scammers that are a REAL PIA , are the ones that post 1 or 2 posts a day...
And if you look , we have waaaayyyy tooooo many of those...

There are "certain" patterns for spamming that are very easy to detect. I don't want to speak directly on these patterns. But I use software to monitor these patterns and deny registration.

I also work full time, have a family, and when in school only have time to check in on my sites may be once a week. I usually only get one to two per month getting through. But get notifications of at least 5 per day blocked.

The next time you talk to the admin, ask what software the forum is run on. I'll then look for a potential spam blocker for it.
