Zenith B32A24Z Can't Post

Last night while watching tv, we head a loud pop-snap, and the picture went out on the Zenith. Smoke started pouring out of the top rear and it was emitting a high pitched whine sound, and a strong plastic burning smell too. Pulled the cord right away. It was not a surge, because my satelite box and lamp in the same outlet are ok. I found a similar question on the board, but it was regarding an RCA and I don't know if the solution is the same since it is a different brand/year. I just hate to take it in if it will be cheaper to save for a new one. This tv is only 7 years old. Any ideas? thank you

That chassis is famous for power supply problems and it will be a shop job. Don't know where you are located, but it should'nt be a real expensive repair if you tote it to the shop.

suburb of chicago - so if it will be less than around $150 bucks or so, there is a Sears repair center and another tv repair place not far. Maybe I can call them for a quote. thanks!
