bright white screen Can't Post

I had a 2004 Magnavox 51MP392H/17 give to me.The screen is bright with the brightness in menu all the way down.Looked in side the CRTs the red is clear meaning i can see what should be on the screen. the green and blue look like frost on window on the inside. would changing the coolent solve this. THANKSWink

Red + Blue + Green = WHITE
If green/blue are contaminated you would think brightness of them would be reduced resulting in a "bright reddish screen."

Until you can see a clear picture (with the ability to pick out individual scanning lines) in each CRT...this is usually what you CAN'T see if the tube is contaminated. It appears "cloudy," "blurry," "out-of-focus," "dim," etc.Cool

done coolent change now i can't get + to line up will not go up or down but it will go side to side. will new ic's solve this problem also looks like northen lights at bottom of screen

Going back to your comment on brightness being too bright... How high are the screen (G2) controls?

In regards to "+" not go up/down, Did it work correctly before coolant was changed?

no the "+" did not work before the change and the G2 controls are about half way.

Changing the ICs (and checking the bias resistors and any fuses) should get the "+" to adjust in all four directions for both the red and blue.Cool

on the red + the first four rows on the left will not move the rest will move fine
