dvd player fault

I have been trying to resolve the problem with playing dvd,s created by Pinnacle and burnt by Nero being played on a Proline player model no. dvd1260. I have changed to using a Sony player as an information video at our club as the Proline was breaking up pixels and stopping. There is a problem though as the tv is defaulting to 4x3 format when being switched off for the night, the video is running from 8am to 10pm every day for the last 18 months. I was thinking of buying a new Proline to cure this problem but I may be throwing money away.
The dvd,s that I produce run fine on two brand new Sony players and a Panasonic HDD recorder.
Is my problem down exclusively to the Proline player? Commercialy produced dvd,s run okay on the Proline which is even more confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am tearing my hair out.
